Hi, I found out that when trousers instructions call for a zipper thats longer than needed it's so you can insert the zipper with the zipper stop out of the way. You'll be able to get the presser foot snug up to the teeth. You'll also be able to get the waist band just right on the zipper and avoid the gap there when the zip is too short. I always use a longer zipper for this.

Your pants look good. I'm stil (after 30 years) looking for the perfect fit in them.

I saw these pants on you flickr page and I love them. Thanks for all the tips on fitting. I have the SEW U book, but, based on your advice will probably purchase the pattern to make these pants.

I totally applaud you once for even attempting to make pants and a second time for having them turn out the way they did. I think they look good on you (at least from the pictures). I'm trying a Butterick pattern that is sort of boat/cowl neck-y. I'll let you know how it goes.

I am super way impressed that you made those. I'm still on skirts and dresses. I hope that someday I will graduate on to shirts and pants. I just saw the schedule for Maker Faire and I noticed that you were on there! Unfortunately, my plans right now are to go on Saturday, but if things change I will definitely go find you!

I think they look pretty good. I have a book that tells you how to correct a pants pattern to fit your body. I'll see if I can find the fix for you. I'm glad you left a comment today because I'm thinking about going to the MF, and, if I do, I'll try and find you at one of your demos. I know a couple other bloggers going, KnitSonya and Bitter Betty and maybe even Futuregirl -- we'll see. Take care, M.

Hey Nancy! I like the trousers! Maybe when wearing them out in the real world you should just keep your back to the wall at all times! But seriously I doubt anyone would really notice, it just depends how you feel about wearing them. I'm really fussy about what I wear (I'm always paranoid that things look too short on me!). I was thinking about buying the sew u book, what do you think? worth the money? Oh and I found an online shop in the UK called getknitted that sells cascade fixation. I'm going to wait until they get more in stock (I need 14 balls eek) and then get some! I'm feeling a lot better then I did but I'm still a bit crabby. I keep getting tension headaches as soon as I even think about exams! Stress can present itself in weird ways. Thanks for the well wishes. Sheesh long post hehe! Take care, EtSu
