Hi! I’m afraid I have no useful advice as I have no little one, but if you do find out some helpful info, please share as I am taking notes for the future.
I love her 3-month picture. She looks like such a happy baby!
Ha…do it?? How do you think I got sucked into the WWW?? Loooong hours sitting in a chair breastfeeding, or just holding a sleeping babe. Not much else you can do with one hand while sitting on your butt.
Wait a little longer, and then you will have short blocks where you can pop her down and sew a seam for 10 minutes or so. :p
Well, my little ones are 8 and 5 now, and really good at entertaining themselves, so I’ve been really prolific lately. But when they were babies, I used to wear them in a sling or front carrier. If that wasn’t practical, they were usually pretty happy just sitting next to me in their bouncy seat watching me do things. They’d sit nearby and bounce while I talked to them, told them what I was doing, etc. They didn’t understand of course, but I think the interaction was important to keeping them happy while I played!
I have to admit, though, that even though I did manage to get some things made, I was a lot less crafty when they were tiny babies than I am now.
Oh! And one other hint? Simple, easy, hour-or-less projects
I echo what others have said - it will get easier. My almost 4 y.o. twin boys were young toddlers before the craft bug (first knitting then sewing) hit me, so it was a non-issue for me during their infancy. I would have been too exhausted to craft, left alone blog, during those first several months. But once they were toddlers taking regular naps and sleeping through the night, life changed for me. I did, though, have to give up a few things in order to fit crafting and blogging in on top of taking care of little kids. Things like housework. Balancing my checkbook. Extra sleep. You know, the expendable stuff.
oh man, my strategy was to have my son before web 2.0 back when Oprah was the only adult human on tv during the day that could speak in complete sentences.. I saved the crafting for naptime… after it got longer at about 6 months.
she is beautiful and you are keeping your priorities straight: health, baby and then craft just keep your ideas brewing… they will be great and well conceived when you get a few moments to execute. And we here in blogland will wait patiently for any moments you find to share.
I joined the magnolia club for their yarn =)…I can knit baby s. a little hat for you just so you can touch =)
I did quick short projects for crafting and also when it was daddy-time I also got some time in. The days when my mother-in-law would come, she would give me time to myself, other than when I had to nurse. When they get a little older you do get more time to craft but when they’re small it does get a little hard. Nap times are good too!
Happy 3 months to Baby S.!
I have an almost one year old and I’ve been crafty since about 5 months. I made a quilt in a month, just in time for Christmas (mind you with the gracious help of my mother and husband). She’ll begin to enjoy playing more which means you’ll have more time to play. Invest in a nice pack-n-play and some very entertaining toys, have a good schedule going and you’ll get some time in craft. Naptime is a great time… or after she’s in bed for the night… Good luck! I love your blog! Your baby girl is adorable!
It sounds cruel to some people but the “Ferber method” or the Baby Wise book by Ezzo are the only reason I am sane. My little one would not sleep for longer than 20 min. at a time….and that was killing me. Anyway, Ezzo advises a schedule of eat, wake time, sleep time. That way they learn how to put themselves to sleep. It took a week or so to get on track but now he is a wonderful napper and sleeps 11 hours a night. It gives me time to craft & I can bond with my sweetie too. He is such a happy and cheerful baby now and I honestly think it’s because of the sleep “system”.
I hope you find plenty of craft time. I love hearing about all your projects.

She’s so adorable. Love that smile!

I can hardly get anything done and I don’t have a 3 month old. She’s so adorable!
And thanks for mentioning Lotta’s book - I’ll have to check that out. If I could have my life decorated in Lotta Jansdotter, it would be amazing.

Nancy, what a cutie your little girl is!
No advice on how to juggle all of your priorities… I can’t even do my blogging, crafting and such and I don’t have a little one.
Take care of yourself and that beautiful little girl, everything else will fall into place!
