An auspicious title for my return from the baby cave, no? If you’re still out there, MWAH, big kisses to you for being there! I’ve missed you all, and my blog too. Believe it or not I’ve been thinking of so many things to share with you, but of course thinking and making, or even thinking and blogging, require different degrees of time and effort. Now that HMB is finally in good form and on a nap schedule (for the moment. i have learned not to count my chickens with this kid), there’s a bit more time for the latter two things.
On to the pajamas part of the post:
I got my hands on copy of Amy Butler’s Little Stitches for Little Ones, and if you can make it over to Chronicle Books before their Friends & Family sale ends August 3rd (use the promo code FRIENDS at the checkout for 30% off!), I highly recommend buying it (along with everything else amazing you’ll see there). Before HMB came down with her wicked case of colic (among other things I won’t bore you with, except to say she’s much better now), I started a double-sided flannel blanket for her out of the *cutest* fabric from Joann’s. The half-finished blanket languished in the craft room for roughly four months, so I ripped it apart and lo, it was exactly enough fabric for the ultra-cute Kimono Style Pajamas!

I don’t know if she is just responding to my delight in putting her in a cute outfit, or she actually ALREADY loves clothes (especially handmade ones), but this kid *adores* a photo shoot in new duds. She just lights right up

I have a bunch of the fabric left over and so I think the rest is going to become a pair of the wide leg lounge pants from the Amy Butler grown up book, In Stitches. I don’t know how I feel about the mom/daughter matchy matchy in general (ok, secretly I think it is kind of awesome, but I worry what my friends would think if I made us a ton of matching things), but PJs are acceptable, right?
And on to the frivolous lip gloss part:
My mother and sister-in-law got me such fun gifts for my birthday back in June- namely a great trashy book to read, some pampering supplies and a Sephora giftcard for when I ran out of beauty products (under eye cover-up being a serious necessity for a new mom). I finally made it down to our neighborhood Sephora for the practical stuff when I came across this:

Ok, I am *sure* this whole “perfect pink for you” thing is a scam, and it turns the same color on everyone, but as I can seldom resist regular old lip gloss, I absolutely had to surrender to the magical promise of this one. You know what? I love it. It feels nice going on, doesn’t taste like anything and does indeed turn the perfect shade of pink. I just had to tell you about it, in case you need some new lip gloss (and doesn’t everyone, all the time? i do.)
That’s it from me for now. I have a ton of quick but yummy & healthy recipes to tell you about, and other crafty things on my mind, and hopefully I’ll be back again soon to do it!
